Politeknik Negeri Jember, known as Polije, is a reputable university that offers vocational education from Diploma III (D3) to master’s degree. This campus achieves the best ten of Polytechnique in Indonesia according to Webometric 2023, in which it implements a curriculum with theoretical and practical contents of 40 and 60%, respectively. It is aimed to form the graduate profile in order to have sufficient knowledge and skill, as well as be capable of competing in the industrial world or public institution. Furthermore, the graduates of Polije are expected to be able to perform teamwork and work independently. Teaching factories that rely on project-based learning are developed on this campus, where the learning process is designed by referring to industrial standards. This step is made in order to provide valuable experience to the students so that they can create innovative products. Besides, it sharpens their entrepreneurship efforts and builds their character to be smart, innovative and professional, as demanded by the stakeholders. Environmental issues have attracted Polije's concern for more than a decade ago. It has been proven through several activities that were intended to reduce carbon emissions, such as car-free day, which was conducted every Friday and using bicycles to access specific locations on campus. Moreover, three types of bins were prepared to facilitate waste disposal management. All those activities were enclosed in GoGreen program. Currently, GoGreen spirit is continued, and some activities have been added to reach a sustainable green campus, including the implementation of reducing, reusing and recycling waste and reusing water from rain to supply water for student toilets, as well as collecting water from rain for plant watering.
