Background
UI GreenCityMetric is a ranking for Muncipalities/Cities in sustainability and was first launched in 2022. UI GreenCityMetric consists of 6 assessment categories, including Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste Management (WS), Water Management (WR), Access and Mobility/Transportation (TR) and Governance (GV). With the UI GreenCityMetric Ranking, Municipalities/Regencies are expected to transform into sustainable regencies/cities. In 2023, as many as 58 Regencies/Cities in Indonesia have participated in this ranking.
Aim of the Ranking
- Inviting Muncipality/City governments to transform towards sustainable Regencies and Cities using measurable metrics.
- Providing a forum for learning and sharing of experiences and best practices among Municipality and City governments.
Develop and enhance the ranking instrument in the future
We have carefully crafted a set of criteria and methodologies to ensure simplicity and ease of completion without significant effort, while simultaneously offering information on key indicators. We recognize that critical examination of the data collection instrument will yield insights to help improve it. Therefore, we have sought feedback from an independent review panel and welcome comments from participants that can be used to refine and enhance it in future iterations.
Participate in UI GreenCityMetric
Municipalities and Cities can submit their data by filling out the available online survey form. The process is relatively straightforward and not time-consuming. We believe that the short time and modest effort invested will be more than just a reward for all those interested in sustainability issues. The data submission period through the online form .We will then calculate scores for all participants and publish the resulting rankings in August for Indonesia and December for International.
