Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) is a prominent university, located in Semarang, and is considered as one of the best universities in Indonesia. Firstly, named as University of Semarang, Universitas Diponegoro was a private university established on January 9th 1957. On its 3rd anniversary, President Soekarno changed the name of University of Semarang to Universitas Diponegoro and changed its status to state university, which is then legally confirmed through government decree. Undip is in Semarang, a capital city of Central Java Province. The university campuses are distributed to 7 campuses which is located in Pleburan, Tembalang, Jepara, Rembang, Pekalongan, Batang and Demak. Pleburan campus is the oldest among all campuses. It occupies approximately 7 ha, where School of Postgraduate Program and several other units are located. Tembalang campus as the main and largest campus of approximately 213 ha, is the location of central administration and all faculties of Humanities as well as Sciences and Technology, including faculty of Medicine dan university hospital. Meanwhile in Jepara, Teluk Awur campus, that covering an area of approximately 60 ha. The rest are small new campuses where several vocational study programs are located. Undip also managed Penggaron forest at Ungaran distric approximately 95 ha. Vision: To be an excellent Research University.
